Yaya Combo (aperitif and 1st part)

Four high-flying musicians from Toulouse take you on a musical journey from the groove of New Orleans to the swing of Chicago with a few detours through the West Indies.
This quartet is composed of Gérard Siffert on trumpet, Pierre-Louis Puig on double bass, Jérôme Arlet on resonator guitar and vocals, Jean-Luc Guiraud on drums and vocals.
Together, they freely revisit standards and lesser-known themes for a music rich in beautiful tunes (often sung) supported by a gentleman's swing.
Sheik of Swing (2nd part)

Swing of the Roaring Twenties, waltzes and rhythms of Eastern countries, the musicians of Sheik of Swing offer you an effervescent musical journey.
Heirs of Django and respectful of the great master, the gypsy jazz of Sheik of Swing has fun keeping the best of the style, and presents you its declinations: dancing swings of the Roaring Twenties, little unknown gems of Eastern music, and innovations with an interpretation as poetic as it is swift.
Each performance is a moment of sharing with the audience, an exchange of energy that flatters the heart, legs and ears.
This Toulouse quartet is composed of : Clément Salles on clarinet, Sylvain Peyrières on guitar, Benjamin Bobenrieth on guitar and Vincent Hemery on double bass.
They will transport us into the warm and electric atmosphere of the swing years.

Agen Jazz Trio (Part 1)

Daniel Esteffe on saxophone, Roger Lepreux on Hammond organ and Jimmy Chambert on drums will be on stage to pay tribute to the Gers saxophonist Guy Lafitte and make a nod to Robert ''Bob'' Chabrol, an unavoidable drummer from the 50's to 70's whose drums will be honored that night.
Matthieu Chazarenc (2nd part)

With Canto, his very first album, Matthieu (a native of Agenais) offers a sweet ballad to the sound of an accordion that highlights double bass, flugelhorn (a kind of trumpet) and percussion. The melodies are at the service of a soft romanticism and poetry. All the titles are composed by Matthieu Chazarenc.
While references to great jazzmen such as John Coltrane and Elvin Jones are omnipresent in Chazarenc's creative process, his album is more of a tribute to French chanson than to the pantheon of virtuosos. Hence the special place reserved for the accordion, the flagship instrument of French sound. Canto is a great opportunity to plunge us with delight into the sounds of a jazz that is both demanding and melancholic.
For this trip, a new group has been formed with Christophe Wallemme, a great master of fundamental elegance on double bass, Sylvain Gontard, who is the final designer of the flugelhorn, the young Laurent Derache on accordion and Matthieu on drums.
Satchmo Gumbo

Louis Armstrong's charisma, his showmanship as well as his singing and trumpet playing have marked the history of jazz to the point of becoming a true legend. Around the world, his name irrevocably evokes the music of New Orleans and good humour on stage.
To pay tribute to him, it took not only good musicians but also strong personalities.
Led by trumpet player Jérôme Etcheberry, Satchmo Gumbo is a quintet of highly talented musicians with Jean Dousteyssier on clarinet, Félix Hunot on guitar, Sébastien Girardot on double bass, Sylvain Glévarec on drums and Jérôme Etcheberry on trumpet and vocals.
Jérôme (born in Arcachon) is today one of the most sought-after European trumpet players in New Orleans jazz and swing, displaying a sound of uncommon expression, he is the ideal musician for a tribute to Louis Armstrong.
A "hot" evening not to be missed by all those who love New Orleans jazz and Louis Armstrong !

Les Wonder Brass Band (Part 1) & Les Sophisticated Ladies (2nd part)
Certains l'aiment chaud
Las Gabachas de la cumbia
The Wonder Brass Band (Part 1)
There are four of them: Eline on trombone, Sarah on soprano saxophone, Caroline on bassophone, and Wilma on bass drum and percussion.
Deliberately feminine, these musicians, with their different and atypical backgrounds, meet and influence each other to create a repertoire essentially composed of joyfully eclectic personal compositions with strong Latin-jazz-funky accents.
They brilliantly combine musical quality, energy, intelligence and humour. They play with each other and involve the audience with complicity in their stage performance. Cheerful, dynamic, catchy and surprising, they are as funny as they are committed and terribly endearing. They claim the ambition to invent quality popular music, thus creating a link between everyone by offering moments of sweetness and sharing the time of a concert. They make the show: these Toulouse girls !
The Sophisticated Ladies (Part 2)

Rachel Madgidson (American trumpeter, percussionist) forms the group "Sophisticated Ladies Trio" with Paola Vera (British pianist of Venezuelan origin) and Laure Sanchez (double bass player from Bordeaux who won the 2016 Action Jazz Award). All three sing wonderfully with sensuality and great generosity.
Their story is similar to that of jazz: three different origins, three times more likely to mix influences! The result: a single harmonious whole. This trio was born from a desire to take full advantage of the possibilities of making vocal polyphonies while having in addition a complete piano, double bass and percussion trio. The three singers do both lead vocals and polyphonies and this gives a very rich show, sometimes intimate, sometimes very rhythmic. A resolutely optimistic music that serves a repertoire of playful songs, accessible to all.
The Sophisticated Ladies: it's pure happiness, magical moments, sensual music, a sophisticated and high quality concert performed by 3 charming musicians.
Certains l'aiment chaud
With a nod to Billy Wilder's film "Some Like It Hot", proving that jazz was not only a matter for men and giving it a particular sensitivity was a challenge for the orchestra from its creation (in 1983), before it became an obvious choice.
"Some like it hot" draws its repertoire from the 1920s, a period of intense artistic activity. Their style is faithful to that of the orchestras of Fats Waller, Duke Ellington, Louis Amstrong... Their swing is distilled with spirit, a combination of feminine delicacy and a relaxed and communicative enthusiasm. Their sound is recognizable thanks to the arrangements of Kiki Desplat (renowned cornet player). Her orchestrations highlight the qualities of each musician: the smooth sound of Sylvette's bass clarinet, Catherine's refined and tonic style on the washboard, Nathalie's dynamic playing on the banjo, Claude's lyrical flights on the bassophone.
"Some people like it hot" has long been bringing its share of "novelty" into the tradition and that's fine. The extent of their talent is obvious to you: no unnecessary frills, no free virtuosity demonstrations. We're going straight to the point. Through imaginative arrangements, they offer us some of the masterpieces of original jazz. These 5 Parisian ladies will take you away in an eloquent flow of good humour and cheer !
Las Gabachas de la cumbia
Las Gabachas de la Cumbia take us on a journey to a musical universe in the colours of Latin America. Inspired by cumbia, a traditional Colombian music, these 7 musicians, bursting with energy, passion and generosity, revisit this repertoire in their own way. They thus propose a marriage between the sensitivity of Colombian standards and the intensity of their respective musical influences.
To make us dance, Las Gabachas combines harmonies of voices, congas, percussions, clarinet, saxophones, piano and bass. More than a concert, their show is an enchantment nourished by this pleasure of plural expressions, exchanges and intense complicity with the audience, in a warm and festive atmosphere.
These young women have many talents: musicians, dancers, singers, they know how to do everything, including setting the mood and having fun.

Los Manchos de la Mancha
Jean-Michel Cabrol 4tet
La grande nuit manouche
Los Manchos de la Mancha
On the road to gypsy jazz, many guitar lovers have come across the bellows of a accordion creating a whirlwind ! On free reeds just waiting to express themselves, the strings too give themselves at heart's joy!
So it is with Los Manchos de la Mancha.
The ultimate reference is of course the god DJANGO! But in this galaxy do not forget that the god himself began by accompanying the great musette of the time: Jean Vaissade, Fred Gardoni, Vetese Guérino and many others ...
The quartet originally named La Mancha cultivates, on the fingertips, the gypsy swing flavor. It explores a universe where accordion and guitars share the solos' parts based on a solid rhythmic bass-guitar.
The group also offers its warm compositions inviting us to walk into "Puym'jazz 2018"!
Jean-Michel Cabrol 4tet
From the age of 7, Jean-Michel Cabrol plays soprano sax at Jules Calmette in the Gruissan youth band. Since he has traced his way on the jazz tracks.
He participates in many bands. In Puym'Jazz he will play with his jazz 4tet composed of Vincent Calmettes (the son of Jules) also recognized musician and excellent drummer, Gérard Poncin pianist and composer and Philippe Panel on double bass.
A great complicity unites his 4 inspired Languedoc musicians and claiming the tradition of jazz through a personalized and original music. With many participations innational and international festivals the group positions itself among the most assertive and experienced bands.
It offers a communicative music in which energy, lyricism and cohesion are undeniably perceptible. With the interpretation of his latest album "La Route Bleue" inspired by the Mediterranean Sea, the garrigue and the winds, an air of the sea will float on Puymirol.
La grande nuit manouche
Placed under the sign of strings and swinging reeds, Puymjazz 2018 could not be finished without a musical firework.
The trio "LA ROULOTTE AU CLAIR DE LUNE" which includes Benoît Atquier on guitar, Nicolas Thevenin on bass and Jimmy Chambert on drums will lead the "verdine" (caravan dear "to the sons of the wind") in the heart of this exceptional gypsy night concocted especially for this stopover in Puymirol.
Of course Django's soul will float on the night that we wish full of stars and lighted by jazz standards under the reflections of a moonlight often evoked by the musicians. The trio embarks for the trip: Lydie Arbogast on vocals, Ludovic Bulcourt on accordion, Jean Jacques Ratier on clarinet and Renaud Richermo on rhythm guitar.
A high-flying crew that will delight swing lovers for an evening that promises to be sparkling.

Hippocampus Jass Gang
